Position Statements and Guidelines

The ANMC safeguards the interests of the community by promoting high standards of nursing and midwifery practice through the development and maintenance of competency standards and the development of position statements and guidelines.

ANMC position statements provide the nursing and midwifery professions with a national regulatory perspective which may assist the development of nursing, midwifery and health care policy.

ANMC guidelines are part of the professional practice framework which provides assistance to nurses and midwives in relation to their practice obligations.

ANMC position statements and guidelines are developed in consultation with the Nursing and Midwifery Regulatory Authorities in each state and territory. They are updated on an ongoing basis and are subject to a thorough consultation and review process before being submitted for endorsement to the ANMC Board.

Feedback on position statements and guidelines is always welcome and is used to assist future reviews.
